Showtime Networks Inc. Kick Starts Cable Positive's First International Giving Program With 20K Donation
NEW YORK - October 11, 2007
NEW YORK, NY – Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunication industry’s AIDS action organization, will launch its first international giving program, called One-For-One, which goes online on Cable Positive’s web site www.cablepositive.org, November 1, 2007. The new online grant matching initiative will help more people receive lifesaving HIV/AIDS medication here at home and around the globe. Matching up to $40,000 through the program, supporters will be able to provide monies to three domestic and/or three international organizations. Showtime Networks Inc. a long time supporter of Cable Positive and POP Awards Winner for their commitment to the fight against AIDS, will initiate the program by donating $20,000 to be divided equally between international and domestic initiatives.
Worldwide there is a deficit between the supply and demand for lifesaving HIV/AIDS medications. To compound this problem, those who do have access to treatment options lack the education and support to remain on a self sustaining path. One-For-One takes aim at these two problems by supporting two drug programs and four treatment and support service oriented organizations.
“The generous support of Showtime gives One-For-One a backbone. I am excited for this initiative to start having positive impacts on people around the world,” said Steve Villano, President & CEO, Cable Positive. “With the tremendous support Cable Positive receives from the cable industry there is no limit to what this new initiative may accomplish.”
