"We Have Work To Do" Theme of Cable Positive's Latest Public Service Announcements Featuring HIV Positive People
NEW YORK - October 15, 2007
Cable Positive has produced a breakthrough new series of hard-hitting public service announcements that take a different approach than the celebrity/stat based/testimonial template used in the past. Built around the theme “we have work to do,” the new spots feature the most credible sources regarding the disease: those who are infected by it and face the realities of their HIV positive status on a daily basis.
“After three years of an effective “Join the Fight” celebrity based PSA campaign, Cable Positive is reflecting the greater concentration on real-life stories on programming,” said Steve Villano, President & CEO, Cable Positive. “Our new public education campaign makes viewers acutely aware that people who are HIV positive are people just like them.”
Each spot focuses on a harsh fact: We still have a lot of work to do. In communities around the country, and the world, many audiences have no personal experience with the disease and therefore do not think they can ever be exposed to it. These new spots share real life stories from individuals from the Actors Fund and Hopes Voice, two organizations who work closely with Cable Positive and are a vital part of the HIV/AIDS community. The PSAs point out that the disease is everywhere and can affect anyone.
Cable Positive is once again making these spots available to cable networks and systems as well as AIDS service organizations across the country free of charge. Available October 15, 2007. We urge you to join our PSA “Roadblock” on December 1, 2007 in recognition of World AIDS Day 2007.
