Cable Positive Donates $30,000 to International Aid Organization Through The One-For-One Online Grant Program
NEW YORK - March 6, 2008
Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry’s AIDS action organization, made their first international donation through the online matching grant initiative, The One-For-One Program. Cable Positive presented the $30,000 check to The South African Development Fund (SADF) on March 3, 2008, at Cable Positive’s headquarters in NYC.
On hand to accept the funds was Mr. Heeten Kalan, Treasurer, SADF and Director of GroundworkUSA; Rob Stoddard, .
“I am honored to receive these funds on behalf of SADF, and I just want to reiterate the fact that 100% of this money goes to the organizations we fund, we do not and never have taken a percentage of the donations given to us for operating costs,” Said Mr. Kalan. “Our track record shows a long history of providing these funds to strong grassroots organizations in South Africa so they can advocate and provide medications to those HIV positive individuals who should receive treatment. This partnership with Cable Positive is an honor. South Africa appreciates every dollar raised.”
ABOUT CABLE POSITIVE: Founded in 1992, Cable Positive is a non-profit organization dedicated to unifying the talents, resources, access and influence of the communications industry to raise AIDS awareness; to fund AIDS education and care; and to promote a more compassionate climate for people whose lives have been affected by HIV and AIDS.
ABOUT THE SOUTH AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT FUND:
The South Africa Development Fund (SADF), formerly known as Fund for a Free South Africa (FreeSA), was established in 1985 by a group of South Africans living in exile in the United States. They were joined by Americans active in the civil rights and anti-apartheid movements in developing a model of philanthropy to help bring attention and an end to South Africa’s apartheid system and to reverse its political and social impact.
Since its inception, the organization has facilitated cooperation between concerned Americans and South Africans to enhance social and economic justice in South Africa. SADF solicits funds from individuals and donor organizations, and works in partnership with community-based organizations to provide financial and technical support to communities still disadvantaged by decades of apartheid policies.
