Polaroid PartyTake a Polaroid for charity? Sounds like a crazy idea? Well, the newly formed Baltimore/Washington DC chapter did just that on April 14 to raise awareness of the chapter’s efforts to support the fight against HIV/AIDS locally. The Red Maple was filled with more than 50 cable industry professionals who gathered together for food, drink, Polaroids and to learn more about what Cable Positive Baltimore/Washington DC is all about. Chapter Chair Jennifer Price of Renegade officially announced that the chapter’s upcoming fundraising efforts would benefit Metro TeenAIDS, an AIDS service organization in the Washington DC area empowering young people in the fight against HIV and AIDS. A basket filled with cable industry premiums was raffled raising a $100, Polaroid included.
A Heartfelt EventThe newly formed Baltimore/Washington DC Chapter of Cable Positive held its first event, The Love Yourself Valentine Mixer, on February 9 at National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) headquarters. Attendees were treated to a incredible musical performance by Cash Money!, who donated their time and efforts, along with the opportunity to win great door prizes provided by BET, NCTA, Cable Positive, CTAM and Renegade. Cable FAX Daily said "We're not used to seeing NCTA HQ make like a hip music bar, but props to the Mass Ave crew for donating mood lighting, cocktails table, open bar, live music and sumptuous spread to welcome to life Cable Positive's DC/Baltimore Chapter." It was a great event that brings great promise for what is to come from this chapter.
