The Denver Chapter of Cable Positive was named one of the 2008 Beacon Award Winners. Denver’s Cable Positive won in the Event and Observances (more than seven days) category for the Singing Foolishness to End HIV/AIDS: Denver Cable Positive HIV/AIDS Fundraising Initiative.
The year-long initiative raised more than $120,000 for Denver based organizations that support individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. Highlights of the year-long fundraising included Cable Karaoke, a Wicked theatre party and the highly anticipated annual event, Positively Cable, a musical revue written and preformed by cable employees.
The award was one of 72 Beacon awards handed out in Washington D.C. in early April. Members of the Association of Cable Communicators, or ACC, chose the 2008 Beacon Award winners during an extensive, two-phase judging process.
