On November 11, 2004, The Denver Chapter of Cable Positive staged
Positively Cable Book X: Bobo Broadband and the Tchamber of Tchotchkes
presented by Scripps Networks at The Cable Center raising more than
$144,000, a new Denver Chapter record. The sold-out show written by
Time Warner's Paul Braun and Adelphia's Erica Stull and performed
by industry volunteers (and the gifted wizards of Rave Reviews) lampooned
the cable industry in a plot influenced by both Harry Potter and Lord
of the Rings. The evening also featured a silent auction of items
donated by supporting companies (see list of sponsors). Proceeds of
the evening were split between Cable Positive and our Denver
AIDS initiatives -- the Rainbow House and Mi Casa's FENIX Project.
A
number of leading cable and telecommunications companies supported
this year's show, which was the 10th annual. Honorary chairs for this
year's event were Ron Cooper, COO and president of Adelphia Communications,
who made a special guest appearance during the performance, and Carl
Vogel, CEO of Charter Communications.
Immediately following the show, Denver Chapter Volunteers iN DEMANDS's
Debbie Barackman and Adelphia Communications' Zelda Martens and Erica
Stull received the 2004 Brad Wojcoski Memorial Award recipient for
outstanding contribution to the fight against HIV and AIDS by a cable
industry employee in their local community. As part of the honor,
Cable Positive granted $1,250 to Mi Casa's FENIX Project and $1,250
to the Rainbow House in the recipient's names.
The Volunteers of America Rainbow House, located in Denver, provides
services designed to meet the unique needs of families living with
HIV/AIDS, specifically those with young children. The Mi Casa FENIX
Project strives to educate Denver-area youth to avoid negative risk
behaviors and to improve their outlook for the future.

$77,000 was raised on October 17th by the Denver Chapter of Cable Positive, through their 8th annual musical parody fundraiser “Positively Cable 2002: Cable Gets the Royal Flush.”
The sold out event was held at “The Cable Center” on the University of Denver’s campus and featured music parodies satirizing the cable, satellite, Internet, and telecommunications industry. The hilarious musical numbers, written by Paul Braun, VP of Programming, Time Warner Cable National Division and Erica Stull, were light hearted takes on classic standards such as “Copacabana,” “New York, New York,” and “Cabaret,” among others.
The event’s proceeds were generated through ticket sales and a silent auction that included items such as tickets to entertain 12 guests at the AT&T Colorado Avalanche suite at the Pepsi Center for one game; an NBA Gift Package, featuring 10 tickets to a Denver Nuggets game, a NBA steel figurine, and an ABA Banner (67-76); and a Williams-Sonoma gift certificate valued at over $500.
Half of the proceeds raised benefited Denver AIDS organization Volunteers of America Rainbow House, an organization that provides services for families and young children living with HIV/AIDS. This year, AT&T Broadband sponsored the event.
