The New York Chapter of Cable Positive hosted a fabulous champagne tasting last month at Paradou, a quaint French café located in the heart of NYC’s Meatpacking District. For only $50 a ticket, one of Paradou’s expert bubbly purveyors gave guests a fun, educational overview of the fascinating world of champagne. Guests sampled six delicious champagnes and sparkling wines, while enjoying passed hors d’oeurves created by Paradou’s executive chef, Kfir Ben Ari. All proceeds made from the evening benefited two local HIV/AIDS groups – the AIDS Service Center of NYC and Iris House.
Tickets for this event were sold on a first come, first serve basis, so only forty lucky guests were able to join in on the fun. Be sure to reserve your tickets in advance for the next time Cable Positive hosts an event!

5th Annual Backyard BBQ
A backyard party in New York City? Yes, it's possible. Atop the roof at Tonic East, guests enjoyed a spectacular view of the Chrysler Building, perfect summer breeze, delicious BBQ and mingled with 200 industry friends. There were amazing raffle prizes including tickets to the Lion King on Broadway, cool electronics and an autographed Mark Messier jersey. One lucky attendee won our silent auction prize - an autographed Barenaked Ladies guitar.
Since the Chapter began in 2002, the community has embraced our annual BBQ, making it bigger and better every year. Our fifth BBQ was an incredible evening, and we thank everyone who supports us.
We're proud to announce that since January, the Chapter raised $40,000. Proceeds benefit two local HIV/AIDS groups -- AIDS Service Center NYC and Iris House.
Kudos to all our sponsors -- A&E, AZN, Disney and ESPN Media Networks, HBO, International Networks, Showtime, Sportsman Channel, Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey, Time Warner Cable Media Sales and YES Network. Many sponsors have been with us since our inception. Through their support, we're able to continue hosting many great events each year.

Here TV Network Screening Event
Here!TV partnered with The Cable Positive New York Chapter and
The Gay and Lesbian Center of New York City on October 13th for
a screening of the powerful documentary film “Dangerous
Living: Coming Out in the Developing World.” The standing
room only crowd heard from representatives of Here!, Cable Positive
New York and AIDS Service Center. Filmmaker John Scagliotti (“After
Stonewall”) was on hand for a Q & A after the film
which examined the struggles, triumphs and determination of GLBT
activists in the non-western world despite sometimes overwhelming
prejudice, oppression and, all-too-often, life threatening violence.
Here!TV donated all proceeds of the evening to Cable Positive
New York and The Gay and Lesbian Center.

Service Center (ASC) is a multi-service community
organization with a central mission of helping many, one by one.
AIDS Service Center offers sensitive and caring services for people
of color, women, families, active and recovering substance users,
and others living with or impacted by HIV/AIDS. We provide harm

by a dedicated and experienced staff who reflect our diverse
client base in terms of languages spoken, ethnic and cultural
backgrounds, and life histories including people living with
HIV/AIDS, persons in recovery, lesbians and gay men, and longtime
members of the local community.
Established in 1992 by the Women and AIDS Working Group, Iris House is a social/health center serving HIV-positive women, men and their families in New York City. The mission of Iris House is to provide services to those infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS in a supportive and respectful environment. To fulfill this mission, Iris House offers practical, family-centered services that promote prevention and education while addressing the day-to-day realities of living with HIV/AIDS. Their goals are:
- To promote and support independent functioning for our clients, to improve quality of life, and to maintain optimum health status for clients and their families.
- To educate policy makers, elected officials, and human health service providers about the issues and concerns affecting our clients and their families.
