INNOVATIVE NEW FUNDRAISING PROJECT “BOBBLES” INTO THE CABLE INDUSTRY TO BENEFIT CABLE POSITIVE’S FIGHT AGAINST AIDS

Well-Known Cable Industry Character To Be Immortalized
in Bobblehead Form By October Strategies

DENVER, CO / NEW YORK, NY - January 20, 2003
October Strategies, Inc., a strategic communications and business consulting company known for its unconventional approach, and Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry’s AIDS action organization, today announced a new program designed to benefit Cable Positive and to capture the entertaining, entrepreneurial and unique spirit of the cable industry. To raise funds for the organization, October Strategies is creating a limited-edition bobblehead figure in the form of a well-known industry leader, as a conversation piece and fun collectible that can grace workspaces of all sizes and types.

“The Bobblehead is an ideal way to commemorate the personalities who work within the cable industry,” said Lela Cocoros, co-founder and partner of October Strategies and former board president of Cable Positive. “Besides, who wouldn’t want a little springy-headed version of one of cable’s leading characters on their desk?”

"This creative and fun way to raise money to fight AIDS is another bold and bright illustration of how industry activists such as Lela and LaRae donate their time, talent and energy to help provide resources for the work of Cable Positive," said Steve Villano, President & CEO of Cable Positive.

Only 300 figures will be created, and they will available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis at the Cable Positive booth at the National Show in Chicago (June 8 through 11, 2003). The figures will cost $75.00 apiece, and proceeds from the sale of each figure will benefit Cable Positive.

The identity of the initial honoree will be revealed later this spring, and additional details surrounding the availability and sale of the figures will be released prior to the National Show.

“We thought the timing was good for a fresh and fanciful project that has a serious purpose and that can generate some support for an important cause,” said LaRae Marsik, co-founder and partner of October Strategies. “If it catches on, we’d love to hear suggestions from others in the industry about who they’d like to see immortalized next. Who knows where this might lead.”
