Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry‘s AIDS action organization, is pleased to announce its call for entries for the 4th Annual Positively Outstanding Programming (POP) Awards honoring exceptional HIV/AIDS-related cable television. This year’s POP Awards will be held in June 2005.
Cable Positive is calling for entries in the following categories by Friday, March 4, 2005:
- Outstanding Biographical Program
- Outstanding Community Partnership (for cable systems and local cable outlets)
- Outstanding Documentary
- Outstanding News Coverage
- Outstanding News Magazine
- Outstanding Original Film/Movie
- Outstanding Original Series
- Outstanding Public Service Announcement (PSA)
- Outstanding Special Programming
Cable Positive is dedicated to promoting and highlighting informative and educational HIV/AIDS-related cable television as a means of empowering people in the fight against HIV and AIDS. The POP Awards demonstrate the important role cable television has in promoting HIV prevention, raising AIDS awareness and reducing stigma and fear surrounding the disease.
Entries will be judged by a blue ribbon judging panel of media, television, cable and sexual health writers and editors. Each entry will be judged under the following criteria: educates the audience about HIV/AIDS; raises HIV/AIDS awareness; clearly presents HIV/AIDS message to the viewing audience and maintains high production values that help bring the HIV/AIDS content to life.
Original programming aired from January 1 – December 31, 2004 is eligible for consideration. Applications are available online at www.cablepositive.org/programs-pop.html.
Nominees for the 4th Annual POP Awards will be announced in May 2005.
