CABLE POSITIVE AND MISS UNIVERSE 2001 DENISE QUINONES AUGUST JOIN FORCES IN THE AIM OF YOUTH HIV PREVENTION

Miss Universe 2001 Denise Quinones August Is Featured in Bilingual Spot Set to Air on Cable Network and Systems Across America in Support of World AIDS Day (December 1)

NEW YORK, NY - November 20, 2001
Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry's non-profit AIDS action organization, has joined forces with Miss Universe 2001 Denise Quinones August to create a new bilingual public service announcement (PSA) whose focus is youth HIV prevention. The new spot is set to begin airing the week of November 26 and will continue to run throughout the month of December in support of World AIDS Day on December 1.

The PSA produced jointly by Cable Positive and Stop The Bleeding, Inc., uses specially commissioned music by the composing team tomandandy to appeal to youth. Shot at World's Fairgrounds in Flushing, Queens in front of the historic Unisphere, Quinones addresses the camera in English with Spanish subtitles. She discusses AIDS being a universal problem but letting the viewer know there are universal solutions -using protection when choosing to have sex and knowing your HIV status.

The Miss Universe spot will be one of the featured spots during the PSA roadblock set for World AIDS Day ob Saturday, December 1 at 7:59 pm ET, where every major cable network and system air an HIV/AIDS PSA. This joint effort by cable television front in the fight against HIV/AIDS and will reach more than 70 million cable television households with important and life saving information about the disease.

"Cable television is in a unique position to reach millions of America's young people who watch cable programming daily. Cable Positive works with networks and systems to ensure young people obtain the information needed to help them make educated decisions about preventing the transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS."

"World AIDS Day is the perfect stage to focus the world's attention on this horrific disease, and Cable Positive is a great platform to get the word out., said Quinones. "I am thrilled to be a spokesperson for them this year and am honored that they have included me in their already stellar lineup of spokespeople."
