“POSITIVELY CABLE 2003: BEACH BLANKET BROADBAND” SETS FUNDRAISING RECORD FOR CABLE POSITIVE DENVER CHAPTER

Annual Musical Fundraiser Raises $111,000

DENVER, CO - December 8, 2003
Demonstrating the generosity of the local cable community, the Denver Chapter of Cable Positive announced that its annual fundraising event raised a grand total of $111,000, a new record for the chapter. “Positively Cable 2003: Beach Blanket Broadband” played to a sold-out house at the Cable Center auditorium in Denver on November 13, with cast and audience members dancing in the aisles before the evening was over. Money was raised through ticket sales, event sponsorships, and a unique, online silent auction.

The ninth annual musical satire, presented by Scripps Networks, benefits Cable Positive, the national non-profit organization that galvanizes the cable industry’s resources, access and influence in the fight against HIV/AIDS, and Rainbow House, which provides care for Denver children whose lives are affected by HIV and AIDS.

“The success of this year’s show is a testament to the community spirit and generosity of Denver’s cable industry professionals,” said Event Co-chair Zelda Martens of Adelphia Communications. “It’s also a strong indication that our industry is staging a comeback in Colorado. We’re already hearing from people who want to be involved in next year’s event.”

“The Denver chapter is an inspiration to everyone involved in Cable Positive,” said Steve Villano, President & CEO of Cable Positive. “They’re a remarkably talented and dedicated group of volunteers – we’re lucky to have their support.”
