Outstanding Cable + Community Partnership Category Added
NEW YORK, NY - February 4, 2004
Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry ‘s AIDS action organization, is pleased to announce its call for entries for the 3rd Annual Positively Outstanding Programming (POP) Awards honoring exceptional HIV/AIDS-related cable television. This year’s POP Awards will be held in June 2004.
Cable Positive has added a new category Cable + Community Partnership which will recognize the most outstanding partnership between a cable system and a community-based AIDS service organization using programming in 2003.
Cable Positive is calling for entries in the following categories by Friday, March 12, 2004:
- Outstanding Biographical Program
- Outstanding Cable + Community Partnership
- Outstanding Documentary
- Outstanding News Coverage
- Outstanding Newsmagazine
- Outstanding Original Film/Movie
- Outstanding Original Series Episode/Storyline
- Outstanding Special Programming
Entries will be judged by a blue ribbon judging panel of media, television, cable, sexual health, writers and editors. Each entry will be judged under the following criteria: educates the audience about HIV/AIDS; raises HIV/AIDS awareness; clearly presents HIV/AIDS message to the viewing audience and maintains high production values that help bring the HIV/AIDS content to life.
Eligible entries must be originally produced programming that has aired at least once on a national cable network or regional or local cable system in the United States from January 1 to December 31, 2003. Applications are available online .
The nominees will be announced in May 2004. The winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony in June 2004.
