GOSPEL BRUNCH TO BENEFIT CABLE POSITIVE, AID ATLANTA AND DISPLACED NEW ORLEANIANS

Kick off the National Show in True Southern Style at Pittypat’s Porch; Event Presented by the Gospel Music Channel

ATLANTA - March 16, 2006
The Atlanta Chapter of Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry’s AIDS action organization, will host “Gospel Brunch at Pittypat’s Porch” on the opening day of the NCTA’s The National Show. The fundraiser will feature a special performance by Voice of Atlanta Choir, a renowned gospel choir that has toured with Elton John, and a Southern breakfast buffet featuring a feast of Georgia Peach French Toast, Scarlett’s Hash Brown Potatoes, Rhett’s Favorite Sausage Links and champagne mimosas.

The brunch will take place from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 9 at Pittypat’s Porch, a downtown Atlanta institution known for its Southern cuisine, decor and hospitality, and located at 25 International Boulevard NW, walking distance to the Georgia World Congress Center. Tickets are $45 in advance or $50 at the door, if space is available.

Proceeds will benefit the education and prevention programs of Cable Positive and the local efforts of AID Atlanta, with proceeds directed to displaced New Orleanians who are receiving services in Atlanta. “AID Atlanta’s operations and commitment to serving clients have been greatly complicated in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina,” said Steve Balfour, executive director, AID Atlanta. “The agency, which is the Southeast’s largest AIDS service organization, has experienced a 22 percent increase in requests for assistance in the past six months, driven in large part by the influx of evacuees from New Orleans.”

“Since The National Show was supposed to be in New Orleans this year, the Atlanta Cable Positive volunteers wanted to do something to recognize the ongoing need of the Crescent City and to extend assistance to those still looking for help,” said David Grabert, chair of the local Chapter. “Recovering from the devastating hurricane and flooding is challenging for anyone, but is even more complicated for those trying to manage HIV and live well.”

The event is generously presented by the Gospel Music Channel, along with Cable Positive Atlanta’s premier sponsors: Turner; Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco Company; MTV Networks; The Weather Channel; Fox Cable Networks and Cox Communications.
