CABLE POSITIVE JOINS FORCES WITH HOPE’S VOICE FOR THE 2006 ROAD TO HOPE TOUR TO EDUCATE COLLEGE STUDENTS ABOUT HIV/AIDS

NEW YORK, NY - March 17, 2006
Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry’s national non-profit AIDS action organization, is joining forces with Hope’s Voice, a national HIV/AIDS organization for young adults, for The 2006 Annual Road to Hope Tour -- a 6,000 mile, 19 stop college campus tour featuring 14 HIV positive speakers between the ages of 19 and 27.  The mission of the tour is to bring the message of HIV and AIDS awareness, education and prevention to young adults.

“Cable Positive is proud to work with this dynamic organization in the fight against HIV and AIDS. Teaming up with Hope’s Voice for this “teaching tour” at college campuses around the country is another example of how Cable Positive is “joining the fight” versus HIV and AIDS,” said Steve Villano, President  & CEO, Cable Positive.  “The work of Hope’s Voice in HIV and AIDS awareness, education, prevention and battling stigma and discrimination exactly fits in line with Cable Positive’s mission.”

The 2006 Road to Hope Tour makes its first stop in Washington, DC, at George Washington University on April 3 and continues through May 5, 2006, visiting Atlanta, Chicago, and Boston among others. Each stop consists of a Hope’s Voice panel of HIV positive young adults talking about their experiences being positive and answering questions about living with HIV and AIDS. At most stops, local AIDS service organizations, will be on hand to offer confidential HIV testing, provide access to local resources, as well as advocacy opportunities to those in the community.  This is the second tour produced by Hope’s Voice.  The 2005 tour reached more than 10,000 college students with important messages about HIV and AIDS.  For more information on the Road to Hope Tour please contact Hope’s Voice’s School Outreach Coordinator, Aaron Burgess at 212.459.1599 or visit www.hopesvoice.org.

”We are honored and thrilled to have Cable Positive as a Gold Speaker Sponsor and partner on the tour.  Cable Positive’s commitment to increasing HIV and AIDS awareness makes the organization a perfect partnership for this tour,” said Todd Murray, Executive Director of Hope’s Voice. “Together, Cable Positive and Hope's Voice will bring faces, voices and messages about HIV and AIDS to thousands of students.”

As a Gold Speaker Sponsor of the tour, Cable Positive is creating a taggable public service announcement (PSA) for local market usage to promote the tour stops.  Cable Positive will make this spot available to all cable operators who would like to support this program.  To receive these materials, please contact Michelle Castro at 212.459.1504 or michelle@cablepositive.org

Cable Positive is also providing pro-bono office space to the staff of Hope’s Voice at our headquarters in New York City.
