MAXWELL IS REVEALED AS FIRST INDUSTRY ‘CHARACTER’ TO BOBBLE FORTH
FOR CABLE POSITIVE

October Strategies Divulges Identity of First Subject, Plans for Bobblehead Sales

DENVER, CO / NEW YORK, NY - March 31, 2003
October Strategies, Inc., a strategic communications and business consulting company known for its unconventional approach, and Cable Positive, the cable industry’s AIDS education and awareness organization, today announced the identity of the first cable ‘Character’ that will be immortalized as a limited-edition bobblehead figure as part of a dynamic, new fundraising program. Paul Maxwell, a long time cable industry leader and innovator who has started and/or run some 38+ publications ranging from CATV Newsweekly to Colorado Magazine to CableFax and Multichannel News, has been selected as the first bobblehead figure to be produced.

“Paul is the perfect choice for the subject of our inaugural bobble,” said Lela Cocoros, co-founder and partner of October Strategies and former board president of Cable Positive. “He’s a long time industry leader, one of Cable Positive’s first honorary chairs and certainly a character in his own right!”

Designed by October Strategies, Inc., the entertaining bobblehead program was conceived to both raise funds for Cable Positive and capture for posterity a bit of the zeal and chutzpah that has long characterized certain leaders in the industry. October Strategies is sponsoring the program and handling all of the fulfillment as part of its expansion into a new line of business involving selecting, developing and fulfilling unconventional marketing ideas, premium promotions and business gifts.

"It's certainly a unique honor – and thrill – to be cable's first boob, uh, bobblehead," said a humbled Maxwell. "Having once made the mistake of saying I'd do anything for Cable Positive, I'm paying for it now. And, I hope you'll join me in paying to help Cable Positive!"

“Paul is one of the most recognizable leaders in the industry and he’s long been a supporter of Cable Positive,” said Steve Villano, President & CEO of Cable Positive. “We’re looking forward to seeing how many people really want Paul’s head on their desks.”

Only 300 figures are being created and they will available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis at the Cable Positive booth at the National Show in Chicago (June 8 through 11, 2003). The figures will cost $75.00 apiece, and proceeds from the sale of each figure will benefit Cable Positive. Additional details surrounding the availability and sale of the figures will be released prior to the National Show.

“Being a bobblehead isn’t for everyone,” said LaRae Marsik, co-founder and partner of October Strategies. “It takes a certain nerve and a well-grounded sense of humor to know that hundreds of your ever-nodding likenesses are gracing the desks of your colleagues. It’ll be great to see who else is out there who might fit the bobblehead mold, all puns intended. We’d love to hear the opinions and ideas of those in the industry to see who else they would love to see immortalized in bobble form!”

In conjunction with the sale of the initial bobblehead figure, October Strategies will solicit suggestions from anyone in the industry as to whom they would suggest as the next bobblehead subject.
