Beta Tapes Are Available to
Cable Systems Who Cannot Receive Satellite Feed
NEW YORK, NY - April 1, 2003
Cable Positive will distribute the half-hour documentary AIDS in the 21st Century via satellite on April 24 and April 26 to
provide HIV/AIDS-related programming for local system use to raise
HIV/AIDS awareness among cable system viewers. The documentary,
produced by the cable and telecommunications industry’s
national non-profit AIDS action organization, Cable Positive,
explores the AIDS epidemic in the United States.
AIDS in the 21st Century reflects on the impact of the pandemic
through a series of frank and touching stories, echoing the sentiments
of a number of individuals affected by and involved with the disease,
including an HIV-positive mother of two in Atlanta, a college
age HIV prevention outreach worker in San Francisco, and activist
Cleve Jones, founder of the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
Cable Positive worked with Emmy award winning producers Joyce
Mitchell and Ted Ross of Ross-Campbell, Inc., to produce the documentary
through a grant from Cable Positive. AIDS in the 21st Century
premiered on Discovery Health Channel on World AIDS Day, December
1, 2002.
