AIDS in the 21st Century, the half-hour documentary produced by Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry’s national non-profit AIDS action organization, has received two Northern California Area Emmy nominations. The nominations announced on April 27, 2004 were for Serious News Feature – Series and Current Affairs Program.
AIDS in the 21st Century reflects on the impact of the pandemic through a series of frank and touching stories, echoing the sentiments of a number of individuals affected by and involved with the disease, including an HIV-positive mother of two in Atlanta, a college age HIV prevention outreach worker in San Francisco, and activist Cleve Jones, founder of the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
Cable Positive worked with Emmy award winning producers Joyce Mitchell and Ted Ross of Ross-Campbell, Inc., to produce the documentary through a grant from Cable Positive. AIDS in the 21st Century premiered on Discovery Health Channel on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2002 and has aired in more than 25 major cities in America through our partnerships with cable systems from multiple system operators (MSOs) Adelphia, Comcast, Cox, Insight, and Time Warner.
