HOWARD SZARFARC AS NEW HONORARY CHAIRMAN
Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey executive continues company’s commitment to fight HIV/AIDS

Howard Szarfarc, President of Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey, was named Honorary Chairman of the New York City chapter of Cable Positive. The announcement was made jointly by Cable Positive – the cable and telecommunications industry’s AIDS action organization – and Time Warner Cable. Mr. Szarfarc succeeds Time Warner Cable Executive Vice President and Honorary Chairman Barry Rosenblum who served from 2003 to 2005.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Szarfarc served as Vice President of Finance and then General Manager of Time Warner Cable’s New York City division. He has overseen the company’s deployment of Road Runner High Speed Online, digital video recorders and digital telephone service and was instrumental in the industry’s first commercially viable networked Video on Demand system. Mr. Szarfarc serves on the Board of Directors of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce and holds an M.B.A from Columbia University and a B.S. in Accounting from Brooklyn College.

Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey recently collaborated with the New York Chapter of Cable Positive on the development of the first-ever :30 public service message on behalf of the AIDS Service Center. The local system has pledged to continue donating airtime toward this initiative throughout the year. Through its association with Cable Positive, the company has also been a supporter of the AIDS Service Center’s work and its mission to provide valuable services to those living with, and at risk for HIV/AIDS. Last year, hundreds of Time Warner Cable employees donated clothing for the Center’s first “Clean Our Your Closet” event, in which 45 cartons of clothing containing more than 600 items were collected.
