CABLE TV HONORED FOR OUTSTANDING HIV/AIDS-RELATED PROGRAMMING AT CABLE POSITIVE’S 4th ANNUAL POP AWARDS

BET is the POP Network of the Year

NEW YORK, NY - June 21, 2005
Cable Positive, the cable industry’s national non-profit HIV/AIDS action organization, honored cable television for outstanding HIV/AIDS-related programming last night at their 4th Annual POP Awards.  The ceremony was held at New York’s Hudson Theatre at the Millennium Hotel.  Roma Torre of NY1 News, Scott Lowell of Showtime’s Queer As Folk, Josh Berresford, Charlie David and Nadine Heiman of here! TV’s Dante’s Cove and Jacque Reid of BET Nightly News among others among others handed out awards honoring cable television’s commitment through outstanding programming in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

The following cable networks and programs were recognized for creating television that carries educational value and promotes awareness/prevention in the fight against HIV/AIDS:
