NEW YORK, NY - September 12, 2002
Cable Positive, the cable industry's AIDS awareness and prevention organization, will conduct the a Diversity Week AIDS in the Workplace Free Teach-In for cable industry professionals on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 from 11 am - 2 pm. The event sponsored by ABC Cable Networks Group and AOL Time Warner will take place at AOL Time Warner offices, 75 Rockefeller Plaza, 8th floor conference room.
The session will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn about how to educate and empower their employees with important lifesaving information about HIV/AIDS. It will also feature:
- An HIV/AIDS update by a leading expert from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the current data and statistics of the virus and how they affect the workforce
- An industry leader panel discussion on workplace issues surrounding HIV/AIDS showcasing successful programs implemented at their companies
- And a special advance sneak preview of Cable Positive's newly updated and redesigned AIDS in the Workplace program, an educational seminar focused on HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention
"As we enter the third decade of this epidemic, education is still the only vaccine in the fight against AIDS," said Steve Villano, Cable Positive president and CEO. "This teach-in is instrumental to continuing our education about HIV/AIDS throughout the cable industry."
Cable Positive's Diversity Week AIDS in the Workplace Free Teach-In is co-chaired by Mae Douglas, Vice President and Chief People Officer, Cox Communications, and Michele James, Chief Talent Scout, AOL Time Warner. Participants in the industry leader panel will be released the week September 16, 2002.
