Stoddard Sets Goal to Increase Outreach and Fundraising Activities
NEW YORK - November 2, 2000
Cable Positive, the cable and communications industry's AIDS action
organization, has elected Rob Stoddard, Senior Vice President Public
Relations, AT&T Broadband, as President of the organization's Board
of Directors. Stoddard, a 3-year member of the board, succeeds interim
board president Dennis Mangers, Senior Vice President, California
Cable Television Association, who stepped in following the departure
of former President Lela Cocoros in June 2000.
Stoddard has set a goal to significantly increase outreach and
fundraising activities for the organization, and to better communicate
important life saving messages about HIV/AIDS to cable customers
and viewers.
"It's an honor for me to serve as the President of Cable Positive's
Board of Directors. Establishing this organization is one of the
best things our industry has ever done. In its eight years, Cable
Positive has had a significant impact on the lives of hundreds of
individuals, both within and outside of the cable industry," Stoddard
said. "We hope to further expand our programs and outreach to address
the changing dynamics of HIV and AIDS in the world today."
Dennis Mangers will continue to serve on Cable Positive's board
as Vice President. The two other newly elected officers of Cable
Positive's Executive Committee are Seth Morrison, Senior Vice President
Marketing, CTAM, as Secretary; and Christina Spade, Vice President
Business Operations, Showtime Networks, Inc., as Treasurer.
Cable Positive's Board of Directors elected Stoddard President
during the group's annual retreat on September 21, 2000 in New York
City. He officially began his one-year term as president on October
1, 2000.
Cable Positive is a national non-profit organization that was
founded in February 1992 by three concerned cable executives with
the mission of organizing cable's resources in the fight against
AIDS. Cable Positive is dedicated to unifying the talents, resources,
access and influence of the communications industry to raise AIDS
awareness; to fund AIDS education, research and care; and to promote
a more compassionate climate for people whose lives have been affected
by HIV and AIDS. Cable Positive has grown to include supporters
from every major cable network, MSO, system, hardware manufacturer,
trade association, media publication, and affiliated industry vendors
and suppliers. For more information about Cable Positive, call 212.459.1502
