DID YOU KNOW THAT...

  • AIDS remains one of the leading causes of death among all people 25-44 in the United States – the very population that makes up over half of your workforce.
  • One in every two new HIV infections occurs in young people 13-25, the age of many of your employees' children.
  • 40,000 new infections occur in the United States each year – and the majority of those infected do not know their HIV status.

Studies have shown that employees find workplace AIDS education to be extremely valuable, especially when the program is comprehensive, given on company time, and compulsory, so that employees are not hesitant to attend.

Cable Positive's AIDS in the Workplace seminars have educated more than 60,000 cable and telecommunications industry employees on HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention, and testing, as well as on such work-related issues such as confidentiality, discrimination, and disclosure as covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

AIDS in the Workplace provides basic information about HIV and AIDS, educates employees on how to prevent HIV infection, increases awareness about HIV related issues, educates employees on workplace issues surrounding HIV and how this relates to employee relations, productivity, legal compliance and overall safety. The program fosters a more respectful, non-discriminatory workplace; keeps your employees safe; protects employees and their families; and maintains a productive workforce.

For 2008, Cable Positive will be revamping its AIDS in the workplace training to better accommodate companies in their diversity training programs.  We will be introducing web-based  training modules that will eliminate the need for more time intensive group training sessions.
