Eligibility*

Cable Positive's Positively Outstanding Programming (POP) Awards honor exceptional HIV/AIDS-related cable television programming. Launched in 2001, networks recognized awarded for their programming include BET, CNN, Discovery Health Channel, MTV and Showtime.

Any HIV/AIDS-related program originally produced and aired in the United States between January 1 and December 31, 2007.

Judging

Entries will go through a judging process conducted by a blue ribbon panel of media writers and critics and HIV/AIDS experts. They will be judged by the following criteria:

  • Content Accuracy: is the information provided on HIV/AIDS consistent with current research and scientific information?
  • Message Clarity: is the message of the program clear to the viewing audience?
  • Program Quality: does the program have high production values (script, direction, characterizations, effective news reporting, etc.)
