Cable Positive’s Tony Cox Community Fund is a national grant program that exists to encourage community-based AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) and cable outlets to partner in joint community outreach efforts, or to produce and distribute new, locally focused HIV/AIDS-related programs and Public Service Announcements (PSAs).  The Tony Cox Community Fund is Cable Positive’s single biggest community outreach program, and over the years has become one of the nation’s largest and most targeted HIV/AIDS grassroots funding mechanisms.

Eligible local community outreach projects include, but are not limited to: World AIDS Day (December 1) and National HIV Testing Day (June 27) events, AIDS Rides/Walks, other joint efforts between AIDS Service Organizations and local cable operators, etc. Funding is also available for production costs of HIV/AIDS-related programs and PSAs.  For 2006 - 2007, Cable Positive will allocate $150,000 to support two grant cycles. Grants are available up to $7,000 for 501© (3) organizations, with special consideration given to AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) and cable systems and producers partnering with ASOs.

In order to be considered for a Tony Cox Community Fund grant you must partner with a cable system. Click here to find your local cable partner: www.cableyellowpages.com.

If you do not have an existing relationship with your local cable system, we suggest that you contact the Public Affairs or Community Relations department.

Let the cable system know you are applying for Cable Positive’s Tony Cox Community Fund grant, and describe your proposed project. Ask if it would be alright to send some information about your organization and project to see if they are interested in partnering as your cable sponsor. In addition to directly contacting the organization, send them a letter requesting sponsorship (template), along with a media kit. (To find out how to create a media kit, download our marketing and results kit). Once they have agreed to partner with your organization, request a sponsoring cable agreement (your application will be incomplete if you do not include a sponsoring cable agreement). You can download a template and example here of a sponsoring cable agreement.
